The Board is pleased to announce the line up and dates of the 2026 H.E.A.T. Training Conference.
Dates: August 17-21, 2026
Cost: $350.00 per person*

Classes:
Rob Burly has a wealth of maintenance and emergency background and has taught these classes and has been successful in transferring good information and techniques in maintenance standards and design of emergency vehicles. The goal is to be proficient in keeping vehicles in compliance with standards and also be able to complete certification to be credible in the service industry.
E0 and F1 - Rob will teach a combined class from Monday August 17 and Tuesday August 18 this year 2026.
E0 – Maintenance, Inspection, and Testing of Ambulances covers the maintenance, inspection, and testing of ambulances as covered in Meritor Preventive Maintenance and Lubrication, and NFPA 1910: Standard for the Inspection, Maintenance, Refurbishment, Testing and Retirement of In-Service Emergency Vehicles and Marine Firefighting Vessels (NFPA 1911 Chapters)
F1 – Maintenance, Inspection, and Testing of Fire Apparatus covers the maintenance, inspection, and testing of fire apparatus as described in NFPA 1910: Standard for the Inspection, Maintenance, Refurbishment, Testing and Retirement of In-Service Emergency Vehicles and Marine Firefighting Vessels (NFPA 1911 Chapters)
F2 - Rob will teach this class from Wednesday August 19 and Thursday August 20.
F2 – Design and Performance Standards of Fire Apparatus covers the standards for fire apparatus as described in NFPA 1900: Standard for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Vehicles, Automotive Fire Apparatus, Wildland Fire Apparatus, and Automotive Ambulances (NFPA 1901 Chapters).
Keven Roberts is interested in taking a person from where they are and encouraging them to make new discoveries in electricity. He has good information and has access to a wealth of knowledge that is necessary in this complex and challenging technical era. The goal is not only to become credible but to be equipped and challenged.
E2 and F4 - “A sensible approach to electricity” Keven will teach the combined class Monday August 17 and Tuesday August 18 this year 2026.
E2 and F4 - “Going deeper in electricity” Keven will teach the combined class Wednesday August 19 and Thursday August 20 this year 2026.
E2 – Ambulance Electrical Systems covers the basic design and performance requirements of ambulance electrical systems, components of electrical systems, and preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
F4 – Fire Apparatus Electrical Systems covers the basic design and performance requirements of fire apparatus electrical systems, components of electrical systems, and preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
F6 - Allison Automatic Transmissions - Dan Cleveland returns to cover this subject from his forty-seven years of experience repairing Allison Automatic Transmissions. Service & maintenance to diagnostics & troubleshooting, let Dan unravel the mysteries of the HT, 1000, 2000, 3000 & 4000 Series transmissions.
F3 - by Waterous pumps. Fire pump theory & operation, maintenance procedures, detrimental issues to fire pumps, pump shift operations, Waterous fire pump and transmission overhaul, Waterous accessories, maintenance, operation and overhaul. The instructor uses Waterous hands-on props to help illustrate key items during the training.
Commercial Tire Service - TIA based class that covers all aspects of proper commercial tire repair. Out of service criteria, OSHA regulations, Safety. Includes practical and hands-on exams and TIA certificate upon passing of exams. *This class has an additional per person fee due to the required book and test. Each person signing up for this class will receive a TIA Commercial Tire Service book. The book is used during testing so there is no sharing of this resource. Class limited to 10 people.
M1/M2 - Management prep classes. Instructor covers common items covered in the management level exams along with

Since joining the City of Shawnee in 2023 as Lead Technician, John’s expertise has elevated the performance and reliability of Shawnee’s fire apparatus, directly supporting the safety and effectiveness of our first responders.
